We did it!!
Our Health Promoting Flag is raised up high.

Fruit Morning!
We organised our Fruit morning to coincide with Operation Transformation's 10@10 Schools' Programmme.
Teachers Ms O'Brien and Ms Molloy led the junior and senior classes through their exercises and movements, which proved to be great fun for all. We had everybody out (including teachers!) working up an appetite while a team of parents and TY students were busy inside chopping up, peeling and arranging fruit pieces. On arriving back in the classrooms, all children were treated to  a lovely skewer of fresh pineapple, mango, blueberry, strawberry, kiwi, watermelon and Galia melon. Children had an opportunity to taste some fruits and they enjoyed the refreshments after the outside fun.
A big thank you to all who helped out to make the event a great success!!

Mighty Mouth Oral Health Programme.
Children in Senior Infants and Third Class and our Mixed 3/4th Class have taken part in an oral health programme. They have been learning about care of their teeth, correct brushing techniques, sugar content in food and general care of the teeth. All children who took part were presented with certificates from Mary Carr  (HSE Oral Health Dept), who also spoke with parents in an informative workshop.

About Us

This is a project which involves working with the HSE and SHE ( Schools for Health in Europe) with a view to improve the overall health of everybody in our school.
We met up with Ms Carmel Halpin from the HSE who gave us guidance on starting our projec

Our First Steps..........

Our first task involved organising a survey to gather information about what was being done already and what needed to be done. We sent out surveys to all parents and to 6 children in each class in school. We set up a notice board in the hall with information about Breakfast Cereals. We placed a Suggestion Box in the hall for all students to contribute to our project. When we get our information back it will help us decide what areas to focus on.
One area that we feel we could start on straight away is our break time and lunchtime foods. We plan to make our little break time a FRUIT BREAK where all students who bring a piece of fruit, collect a point for their class. Once they reach a target, this can be turned into a 15 minute a
ctivity break during the week. We hope this will be a success and will encourage more healthy snacks in our school.
